At RAM Elevators + Lifts, we come across people in search of accessibility solutions who have a variety of important questions. When the answer to said question can redirect the path of the conversation, we think it’s important to have those easy-to-answer questions out of the way as soon in the process as possible. To answer some common questions we get, keep reading below.
What is the Difference Between an Elevator and a Lift?
Simply put, commercial elevators are built for safely commuting passengers from floor to floor. These are the elevators you will see in hotels and skyscrapers. A commercial lift, however, is a product much like an elevator in appearance but is used exclusively for people with mobility problems. The main difference is that the lift has a push-and-hold button—versus the common elevator’s single-push button. Commercial lifts are not for transporting goods or passengers, only for people with mobility needs. If this sounds like the product you need, take a look at RAM’s commercial lifts.
Does the Vertical Platform Lift Fit a Wheelchair?
Yes! All of our products are built with enough space for a wheelchair and an extra person. All of our products come in varying sizes so that you can ensure your clients have the space they need.
How Long Is RAM’s Installation Process?
The answer to this question is truly dependent on the situation. If there is tons of wiring, plumbing, and HVAC, installing the commercial lift will be a longer process. If you are looking to add the lift to a location relatively free from these, such as a building under construction or a building with a space meant for accessibility to be built in the future, this process will be a lot faster.
If you have access to the building’s blueprints, these will help us determine a good location for the lift faster. Let us know if you can provide these.
How Much Noise/Disruption Will the Installation Create?
RAM works hard to ensure we create as little disruption as possible. With features like our pitless lift, it’s possible to avoid the same disruption that a business would experience with a commercial elevator installation. If you are concerned about the disruption this may cause to surrounding businesses, please call us, and we will walk you through what this can look like. We will always do our best to be as efficient and quiet as possible, but the nature of installing a commercial lift will mean some disruptions.
