What is a “pitless” elevator? How does that affect installation time?

Retrofitting an elevator into an existing residential home is even more difficult and invasive than incorporating it in a new build. RAM, however, has designed our elevators to need no more than a three-inch pit to ensure a safe home elevator installation. This, too, can be made easier with our pitless elevator option, which needs only a three-inch ramp for flush access.
Can you install home elevators in any home?
